My heart is breaking to hear word that some of you are feeling deceived or manipulated surrounding the ongoing discussion about the future of King of Glory. If you feel like decisions have been made, you are definitely not the only person feeling that way.
I talk directly about that concern in a video in this week’s email. Please take just 4 minutes to watch it, and then I would love to have the chance to hear more from you. I am especially interested in what the Spirit has put on your heart. Could we have coffee or share a few minutes conversation? Some folks share with me it raises concerns when I speak and write a lot about impending change. I feel called to speak of change so frequently, not because any decision has been made, but because faithfully entering into the process of asking “what is God calling us to do/be in the next chapter of KOG?” will beget change. It already has! We may wholeheartedly embrace continuing as we are, where we are. Even so we are still enduring change within our congregation, within ourselves, throughout the world.
I am strengthened by the reminder that God’s Spirit is ever-creating and transforming me, KOG, and the world (that is to say, changing us for the better). While, I’m not particularly fond of the Cross as the Divine method, God does not disappoint when fulfilling promises! The death of what is holding us back will be a good thing.
I am convinced that God is very concerned about our ability to thrive into the future as a congregation. While God may or may not be asking us to sell (how can I impress upon you that neither leadership nor I have made any decision, nor is any such decision ours to make?!), God is asking you and me to be purposeful in choosing and preparing for our future with hope.
More than anything, however, I am certain God has not asked this question to divide us. Our best future is together, with God. Whatever the will of YOU, the Body of Christ in this congregation, come to feel is the hopeful future God is calling us to is the future we will pursue.
Enjoy my video message, let’s get together to talk more, and we’ll see you on Sunday.
