Dear friends and members of King of Glory,
In faithful response to our neighbors and to our relationships with one another, King of Glory will be canceling all church activities until further notice. We have been closely monitoring the recommendations of the medical community, the guidance of other bodies like our local school district and are heeding the recommendation of the Office of the Bishop. We feel this is the best way to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) and show compassion for the most vulnerable in our immediate and wider community.
Much of this is uncharted territory, but we believe that God’s spirit guides us to creativity and ongoing connection. Our staff will remain active in supporting the ministries of our congregation. To stay connected, we will use a variety of platforms. Most of them will be through your phone or computer, and we will work together to make it as simple as possible. If you have not ever had a phone conference, now is your time to try that new experience. You may need to sign into Zoom (https://zoom.us/signup) in order to participate. Please do this, so that you can stay connected. You do not have to pay for it and it will not ask for information other than your phone number and email address. The email coming this weekend will provide links that you need to connect and stay united one with another.
As we see in the wider community, this decision has financial implications for KOG. When possible for your financial situation, please consider mailing your contribution to KOG or giving online. Your acts of service by checking in with an isolated neighbor or making a phone call also affirm our identity as God’s grace-filled people in the world.
In this season of Lent, we are called to deeper reflection, to noticing God’s presence in the most unexpected places, and to see Christ walking right beside us even (and maybe especially) when our pace has changed. Your prayers are heard by this community and are part of our connection. You can submit prayer requests to email@example.com. Please reach out with any needs or concerns.
With love and hope,
Sara Wirth, Interim Pastor
Linda Bobbit, Deacon
Michael Krueger, Director of Worship and Music
Bob Priester, Council President
Jeannette Anderson-Smith, Council Secretary
Lori McLaren, Council Treasurer
